Mountfield House, the most prominent house in the village, was built for the Reverend George Tucker in 1797/98. Currently it is in a state of disrepair due to neglect by a previous owner, the whole village hopes the building will be returned to somewhere near its former glory by the current owner.
The picture opposite was taken in January 2017.

This page and its attachments are also in a state of neglect! The timeline needs updating and links improved. More old pictures would also be useful.
In due course it is hoped that a story telling the history of Mountfield House will appear on this page. Would you like to help?..
